ADDer World Anything and Everything ADHD

Anything & Everything ADHD

Hi,

I am excited to let ya know that I have taken the first leap in years to follow my passion in music, healing and education. Last year I started playing the didgeridoo. The effect on my being has been a blessing. I have learned how to feel diaphramic breathing, can get to a relaxed state in minutes and love to play it. Nothing else gets in my attention.

So I moving away from my high paying corporate job (used to be in academia) as a curriculum developer to purse sound healing and all its facets. I just realized that my background in curriculum development may be leveraged to create courses in sound healing for ADHD and other challenges/blessings. And as I continue to manage my own ADHD, possibility incorporate into coaching, teaching and curriculum.

very cool!!!!

So has anybody had any experience with sound healing. I have a nephew who does all his homework while I play didgeridoo or if he puts on biareal beta waves.

Peace Lisa

Lisa,

I am a corporate trainer/program developer and looking into similar areas-found a studio here in Atlanta that produces music like you are talking about, I THINK... tell me more about didgeridoo, links?

Also, I used to listen to a product called MindStereo, then got a new computer and didnt re-load it, but as I recall, it focused on similar sound/brain science.

HI Jan,

Ironically, I am too a curriculum developer in corporate, but getting out due to my health and sanity. I don't yet know much about the ins and outs of sound healing, except that the didgeridoo has really helped me calm down after getting really emotional or stressed out.

Hi Lisa,
Raising my hand as a former curriculum developer in the corporate world. I did get out due to health and sanity (almost 10 years ago), Lisa, and I congratulate you on doing so. If I hadn't I don't think I would be here today. I've been thinking for a while about a native american flute, but just checked out the didgeridoo after reading what you have to say about it. I do believe in the healing power of music. Piano has been my instrument since I was a young girl, and I think about it as such a wonderful outlet. I really need to get back to playing (feeling guilty as the baby grand I grew up with sits next to me), but I also feel drawn to instruments such as the native american flute and now the didgeroo. Best of luck to you in your pursuit of developing curriculum , teaching, coaching.

Hi Lynn,

its interesting that so many of us are in training and curr design. Since I was poked and prodded at a young age, I wanted to learn about What was wrong with me. (Nothing!) for most of my life. I got into cognitive psychology and have been really interested in different learning styles.

Once I got out of academia, it didn't seem like anybody cared about how people learn differently.

Anyway, I too am drawn to the native american flute and hope to make it my next instrument I learn. There is something about the didg where I deon't have to focus and break down whether I am doing it right, so I can just feel it. With my drumming it took a long time to stop thinking about whether I was hitting the drum right, on time, etc.

Also, the was a study in Sweden? how didgeridoo before bed helps sleep apnea.

Peace,

Lisa
P.S What type of work do you do now.

..as well-i'm up to the experirment-of bio-energtics helping within in a doctor's program's impliment-research through joining him-how device at particular frequency and participants use of device-will diffuse issues
with long-suffered emotional/stress onsetted of the emotional body (ADD/ADHD can also be helped of use of this device in within management program)
the 1st people dr stone of southerm california wants to work with are those with fibromyalsia(spelling?)-i think from there-his next step is to work with ADD/ADHD persons (of course-they're with no onsets)
so to be continued

I think there are many ways that sound can help people and ADDers' focus, calm and even change their brainwaves. Right now for me, its about dealing with years of emotional stress and fibromyalsia from internalizing years of feedback (internal and external) about my impulsive behavior and emotional immaturity.

I have been using listening tapes to help me sleep using delta waves. I hope to learn more about how beta, alpha and theta waves (too little or too much) can affect the brains frontal lobe fxning.

peace,
lisa

I would love to hear your feedback on how this works for you. I am dealing with all you are and even my counselor pissed me off yesterday so looking for some other options...I have been tested for months for leg and back pain (being told I have different things by each Dr) so it comes down to fibromyalgia, etc...

Keep us updated....

After years of body pain, I finally found a Rhuatomologist to diagnose me with Fibro, since my primary didn't do anything but send me to PT or try to give me pain meds. If you have Fibro, meds like Vicaden will not help

I find my pain increase when I am resistant, in fear or angry. I notice that I am not breathing. I am not really trying to breath, even though all I want to do is hit something.

As for the Fibro, my health has gotten bad, so I am trying to get as many diagnosis so that I can go on disability to remove work as a stressor for a while. After spending 40 years holding it together, pissed that I have to form myself in this world, depression and angry, I finally said "enough with it" and am focusing only on my heath.

Though I have fear of uncertainty and that I may end up on the streets, I pray everyday to be open the the possibility to give up all my fears to the universe.

I have heard of sound healing, and this sounds so cool to me! I don't have any experience with it though! I hope sound healing becomes more widely available someday soon!

I hope to share it with all of you when I finish my program!

I'm really looking forward to this, Lisa. Right now I'm suffering from Pain after Shingles, or Postherpetic Neuralgia, also known as PHN. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. I'm hoping that I can get help from Sound Healing. Good luck with your program, Lisa.
