Anything & Everything ADHD

Does your therapist use specific techniques or exercises to help you deal with ADD challenges?

My therapist showed me a workbook the other day that she sometimes uses in work with ADD clients, but said that she had hesitated to bring it up with me because she wasn't sure whether, if I didn't or couldn't complete it (because of other things I've been working on as well), I would look at it as "one more thing" I didn't complete, and beat myself up over it. I looked at the book and it seemed interesting, but I did start to feel a little sick at the thought of taking on something else, so I decided to wait on it. At this point, I seem to be doing better with trying one tip or suggestion at a time and working on incorporating it into my life.

Anyone else?

NO.....

..... as for the workbook, hell, that's like a person with a poker addiction, being told to learn blackjack. All we need is just more stuff we "intend to do, but don't get done"...

And I still have to get to the half-dozen, partially read books on ADD, I've got around my house!

If your therapist can focus ONLY on ONE goal at a time then it would be a great idea! As you mentioned, if the therapist adds this task to a bunch of others than it may overwhelm you (or anyone!) and perhaps promote more stress.

My therapist does not usually give me much homework, but she does let me borrow videos, CD's and books, which I do like since most are educational. In all honesty, my focus in therapy is not ADHD.
I have other issues that have become a higher priority in counseling so we are concentrating on these other concerns right now.
