I'm seeing a psychologist. So far she has been working on the depression and anxiety more than ADHD strategies. Those had gotten so bad that other than meds, there isn't much we can do without getting them under control first. She does seem to know what she is doing.

Good idea, Bryan. I will do that.

You might want to make that a clickable link in the above text box for the group? I haven't checked it out myself yet, but, seems it should be a good resource for those searching for a therapist.

Melissa, have you tried the Find A Therapist page on the Psychology Today web site? http://therapists.psychologytoday.com/rms/prof_search.php
It can be really helpful.

Ashvina, I wish I knew of a resource to share with you also. The Psychology Today web site seems to only have listings in the US and Canada.

I am so glad this group was created . As of right now I am not in any kind of counseling or therpy , but in the past I have gone to several family therpiest but never really got past the starting line with any kind of treatment for myself . After going through the whole ordeal with the family therphiest & not getting the help that I needed , I just pretty much swore off therhiest as well as counselors . My thing is this , I have a very hard time trusting couselors & therpiest and the fact that I have yet to find a therpiest or counselor that understands ADD/ ADHD here in NC ( Buncome county) life is even more frustrating.

hey guys, i suppose im still trying to get to a therapist that understands ADD. i want to get some testing done, but in Malaysia it may be difficult. anyways, i may try doing arts, or drama therapy. may help massively.

and Lee, yeah I know what you mean about the breathing exercises -- i have tried pranic breathing and it zones me out more, but at least it calms me down a little, when im edgy.

take care all xoxo

Hi Lee,

Thank you for leaving our first comment!

I see my therapist every two weeks. Initially, I started going to see her for depression and I had no idea I had ADD. After knowing me for awhile, she brought up the possibility and offered to do a formal assessment. The results of the assessment didn't leave much room for doubt.

I don't think I have Social Anxiety Disorder, but I am pretty much a hermit when I'm not at work. By the end of the day, I can't wait to go home where it's safe and predictable and I don't have to pretend that I feel "normal".
