I've suffered depression for quite a few years. It's become almost impossible at times. I feel that because i don't have a definite diagnosis that all the counselling and antidepressants have not really helped, because my treatment has been mainly based on depression due to social factors, and past history. I KNOW i have adhd. My son has it and i believe my mum has it too. She is 62 and if you ever met her you would not believe the energy that woman possesses. She also talks non stop, constantly interrupts, has always suffered sleep problems and suffers depression. I believe once i get diagnosed my proper treatment can begin.

Hi Genny...good idea for a discussion forum.
It can be challenging enough coping with the symptoms of adhd on a daily basis...depression is many times a byproduct of having adhd. Like wearing reading glasses with no lens...you need the glasses to help you read, but with no lenses, you can't even begin to make out the words on the page. Overcoming depression through therapy and perhaps meds is as though you at least have proper lenses in your glasses, whereby you can see clearly all that is before you--even if you don't understand what you're reading or each day's new personal challenges, at least the words or situations seem clearer and possibly more manageable.

Good idea Genny. Awareness is key to a better understanding and provides the answers for coping, overcoming and helping others.
