I'm here. Of course, I can't hardly sit still right now because the Adderall is wearing off. I'm normally really tired when it wears off. I'm not sure why I feel so hyper tonight.

Does anyone feel like their adhd contributes to hyper-sensitivity at times? Sometimes I feel like a hypersensitive basket case out to judge the world!! But I know it is useless and out of my hands.

Thanks for your comment. I did call a new dr. yesterday and have an appt. on Feb. 24. I really liked the way they got me ready on the phone by asking me to write out a list of what prescriptions I've taken and am currently taking as well as asking me to list out my symptoms.

I guess I'm just looking for someone who will look at the whole picture and not just the depression.

I truly believe that if I can get some of the adhd symptoms dealt with, my depression would be better.

I've been looking for a support group in my area, but so far there's not really anything close to me. I live in the Houston area, but the groups that do meet are too far for me to drive to with my kids' and my schedules.

"A", I have had some complications, too, in finding a good doctor or psychologist to prescribe stimulants for ADHD. Everyone seems happy to write a prescription for antidepressants, but nobody wants to touch the ADHD. Do that many professionals not believe that it truly does exist?

I think that you should definitely consider another antidepressant since the Prozac always seems to stop working after time. The same thing happened to me and most of all the antidepressants that I have tried. They always seem to lose their effectiveness after a certain amount of time. Trail & error!

If the depression is really rough, try to make an appointment ASAP to see whichever doctor prescribes the antidepressants. Do not allow yourself to wait too long since you already mentioned that it is no longer working well. Have you considered looking into a support group for ADHD, such as CHADD? Possibly, this local group could refer you to someone who specializes in ADHD? I pray that you can start on a new medication that works well and that you will be feeling much better soon! I'm so relieved to find this group. I've tried so hard to get help for both my depression and adhd, but my doctors always seem to pass the buck: my family dr. didn't want to deal with the depression and didn't want to prescribe anything for the adhd until I got treated for the depression. I went to a psychiatrist who would only treat me for the depression and wouldn't even discuss treating me for the adhd. I then went bck to my famly dr. who said that i would have to get adhd treatment from the psychiatrist.

i finally got the psych. dr. to prescribe a med. she put me on strattera, but the side effects bothered me too much.

I'm also on prozac, 80 mg. But over the years, as I've been on it before I always have the same reaction. It starts losing it's effectiveness. I'm currently out of meds and need to get back to the dr.

the depression has really been kicking my butt lately.

After one month on Prozac, my family doctor changed my medication to Cymbalta so I could address both depression and fibromyalgia. It has been at least one month that I have been taking Cymbalta. The doctor gradually increased the dose from 20 mg to 30 mg, then eventually to increase it to 60 mg this week. I started going to a pain clinic for the fibromyalgia in which I am suppose to see a psychologist, physical therapist and an occupational therapist. Tomorrow is my first time to go to these new specialists so I am praying that it goes well and that they accept me into the program.

I had my first bout of depression at 10 years old. It continued to rear it's ugly head several times per year and now I cannot go without anti-depressants or it becomes debilitating. I'm glad to see that this group is addressing ADHD with Depression, because they are two things I've struggled with daily for over 20 years now. I'm exhausted!
