Speaking of Van Gogh...had the chance to see his Starry Night painting at the Yale Art Museum this summer....wow! it's MUCH better in real life than any print i've seen of it. if you get the chance, go see this one
I bought a book last night, I usually get books from the library and hardly can sit still enough to read, but this one is a collection of art in a book called Spectrum Fifteen, it is a collection of what was voted the best contemporary fantasy art, some of it is so cool and some digital art! They also have a website that I was gonna check out later and there should be a link there on how and when to submit art for the next get together. I would like to get good enough to send some in to them!
Hi Chief 45,
I have always been a huge fan of Van Gogh, and have been to the Van Gogh Museum at Amsterdam four times already to see his work along with other exhibits, such as Picasso and Matisse. I am planning another trip there at the end of April to see the MoMA Van Gogh exhibit that you mentioned seeing at the Yale Art Museum...Can't wait to see Starry Night in person!
My favorite artist is Mark Rothko! Also like Chagal and David Sedaris as a writer (word artist) too!
So many choices, but I'd have to vote for Emily Carr. It always amazes me how strong her faith in herself was, not only for her time, but even for today.

For paintings, definitely Dali and Escher. Oh yes, and Hieronymous Bosch.
In music: Just about anything Baroque, Classical or Romantic. Scott Joplin. 1930s swing (Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Glen Miller). Mike Oldfield. Gilbert and Sullivan. Celtic. smurphgr What was that you said, Gary? spuhgr Sorry, can't hear you. Speak up. SPICE GIRLS. Happy now?
Victorian architecture and design. We found an architect who designed a practical version of the Manor from Charmed for us. Someday we'll even build it.
I love the use of language in Victorian literature.
