Hello everyone. I am currently working as an family advocate assisting families who may have children with special needs and mental health diagnosis. I work a lot with families who's lives have been effected by ADHD. I am very interested in incorporating coaching into the organization, and I am looking for direction of where to go from here. My boss is also very interested in this. In our organization there is no charges for services, and I am hoping there is grants out there to pay for this service. If anyone could help me in the right direction on where i need to start first, that would be great.

have a great day

As a coach, I am looking for ways of introducing the idea of food sensitivities to adolescents in a way that does not make them feel like an oddball. Secondly, I am looking for some very simple meal ideas for college students with sensitivities to gluten, sugar and dairy. Thank you in advance and I am pleased to be a part of this community.

Good Morning,
I am looking for advice on what steps that I need to go through to become and ADD/ADHD Coach. I have had ADD for almost 3 years (since age 48) and am always doing research and helping people to better learn to cope with people with ADD/ADHD and how to earn how to use their new capabilities. See I do not look at ADD as a disability, I look at it as an ability. I am also well educated through experience and HR bacground on employee issues and their rights. I feel that I have much to offer and feel that this is something I want and need to do.
If anyone has some advice I would love to hear from you!
Thanks,

Mindy

How would I know if I need an ADD coach?

Thanks for the clarity Tara and Shana! Makes sense for the rest of us, with the boss/assistant analogy.

I don't think it's an either or thing but Shana is correct an ADHD Coach can help people with ADHD learn how to delegate, train, and work with assistants.

Mike,

I believe you are onto something . . . sort of. A strong assistant with an opposite skill set is frequently the asset that propels an executive with ADD to greatness.

When there is a solid plan for how to work together and an open awareness of everyone's strengths and weaknesses, this type of partnership is unbeatable.

Unfortunately, I am in offices every day where a frustrated assistant feels unable to meet the ever-changing demands of the "idea guy". What is really happening is that the assistant is unaware of (or uneducated about) the ADD and simply does not know how to interact with the boss. In a case such as this, coaching could help the ADD boss understand how to utilize an assistant with good communication and simple organizational systems.

I'd like to ask a question ...

Hey, I've got ADD ... you never know what unusual questions I may come up ...

I've thought a lot about ADD coaching, and I've also visited websites offering it, but I still can't grasp exactly what it is, which brings me to the question that always sticks out in my mind ...

Now don't be running off with this great business idea ... he, he, he ... but as adders, aren't we more in need of assistants than we are of coaches?

Then again ... remember, I still don't quite understand what ADD coaching is.

Can anyone explain what self-coaching is all about?
Shana M. Prichard, MBA Comment by Shana M. Prichard, MBA on March 6, 2009 at 5:10pm
Hello! I am excited about this new group and wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Shana Prichard, and I am the owner of realign, an organizing consulting firm in San Antonio.

I am interested in seeing the discussions that come up in this group reading everyone's input. Many of my clients struggle with ADD and I am always interested in learning more and finding new resources to help.

Also, I would like to extend an invitation to the members of this group. My company has recently launched a pilot program for organizational coaching. The program is designed for business owners and professionals (with or without ADD) who would like to see their efficiency and profitability improve by implementing simple, effective organizing strategies.

Members of this group are invited to participate at a deeply discounted rate for up to 12 months in return for active and honest feedback as we develop a world-class organizational coaching program.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like to learn more about this program. I can by reached via email at Shana@RealignOrganizing.com or (210) 573-5627.
