I was diagnosed with celiacs disease at the AGE OF 14MONTHS WHEN i DROPPED DOWN TO 9LBS. I also have relatives on both sides who have celiacs. My mother had it. I am totally hooped when I have gluten or cross-contamination for a few days. I get more irritable. I was however raised by a woman who had undiagnosed munchausen's by proxy and so my adhd and gluten were exasperated. Have they done a small bowel biopsy on you for confirmation. Here in Canada upon confirmation there is the ability for a bit of a tax relief. There is a huge chance someone else in your family has it and doesn't realize it!
What do you find to be hard and challenging regarding the diet?

It happens! Good for you for going gluten free! You might want to try eliminating black pepper from your diet for a month and see if you notice a difference!

(I just realized I'd posted already, AND that I said I was gluten free since 2006, but it was 2007 . . . how embarrassing.)

Hello!

I realized in 2007 that I am gluten intolerant and completely changed to a gluten free lifestyle. It made a huge difference in how I felt in so many ways, including focus and attention (I didn't know I had ADD at the time). Every time I am accidentally "glutened" from cross-contamination (even a tiny crumb is enough to cause a reaction), I notice that my focus is shot for at least a few days, along with the physical symptoms that accompany that.

I hope others who live gluten free will join this group, as well as anyone who finds that avoiding any other type(s) of food helps with their ADD symptoms.

Is anyone here on a gluten-free diet, and have you noticed that it helps? I've read that some ADDers find benefit from it. I found out I was gluten intolerant in 2006 (only just found out I have ADD in the last couple months) and have been gluten free for two years next month. When I do accidentally ingest gluten from cross contamination, I go through several days of not being able to focus or think, especially at work.

Just curious to hear about anyone else's experiences, and with other foods as well.
