Wow, bad several weeks ladies. I stopped all my meds, you know...like the Doc's tell you NOT TO? I just got sick of taking them. Thinking that I really didn't need them. Let me tell you. I missed a car payment, I had many melt downs esp with the move my Doc put us through at work. I became mean and nasty, weepy and moody. Doc called me into an exam room and asked what was going on. I told him and he just put his head down and told me to re-start the prozac. The wellbutrin another doc put me on made me angry and I had a ton of anxiety. I think I have it together again. Ritaliin and prozac. Life is good again.

Hugs and I missed you all

hello all, i recently got married to a wonderfull man who has ADD. I love him even with all of his little "quirks". His little boy ( from a previous relationship) is already showing signs of it. I have learned with living with someone who has ADD all you can do is love them but also let them know when boundries have been oversteped. We are doing that with his two year old and we have seen alot of changes in his behavior when he is with us then when he is with his mother. We have made the decision that we are going to help him in any way that we can and not let him feel that he is any diffrent then anyone else he just has a diffrent way of doing things.

Kelly... for me, it's easy to know when I need to take the prozac, cause I'm on the pill too - I'm even on the pill that supposed to help with PMS symptoms - fat lotta good it does me! It does help the cramps, and the heaviness, and clears up my face... but nothing for the moods. That's where prozac saves my life. Well, maybe not MY life, but the life of those around me!!!!

Hey y'all-
New to this forum, obviously; new to ADDer World; but NOT new to ADD...just pretty new to its having a name, so to speak! I'm 50 and am THROUGH with periods, thank you Lord Jesus...but I always had terrible PMS, heavy periods, and horrid perimenopause too. And depression...severe depression I had for many years. I weaned myself off all Big Pharma drugs and doctors, and for the past six years treat myself herbally/with homeopathy. It has helped me so very much in just about all areas of my life, that I highly recommend it to everybody. Of course, I recognize that YMMV in this aspect (Your Mileage May Vary), and am not trying to push my way onto anybody; it's just that it's blessed me so much I want to share it so others can be blessed too.
Whoever it was who said she was the oldest, LOL, I think I've beat you out now. I'm nifty 50! Hee hee.
Look forward to getting to know all o' y'all...and what a relief to find a community of ADDers, and especially one just for women!

Personally I have never had a big PMSing problem. I don't lose my temper or cry any more easily than at other times. At least if I do neither, myself, or my husband or anyone close to me has ever noticed.
I might be able to figure out when my next period was due if I'd remember to mark them on the calendar but usually I'm clueless. I'll learn all about peri-menopause from you ladies so when my turn comes there won't be any nasty surprises.

Hi everyone! I am 44 years old and I have been struggling with extreme peri-menopause this year. I went three months without a period. Finally, I had my period last week and what a relief that is! I absolutely do not want to be going through menopause this early. Has anyone tried natural progesterone creme for relieving PMS and peri-menopause symptoms? I used to use it consistently, but got off of it when my periods became so wacky this year. The progesterone creme is applied on your skin twice a day. If you have periods than you usually apply the creme twice a day for 21 days, but take 7 days off. On day 8 of your cycle you start applying the progesterone creme all over again. In the past, the progesterone creme helped reduce my mood swings, painful periods and it evened out my periods so they were more reliable and on time each month. Also, it helped reduce the heaviness of them.
I used to purchase Emerita Pro-Gest locally at a nutrition store, but now I purchase it on www.vitacost.com because it is less money & big savings!

By the way, I do believe that women with ADD/ADHD have worse PMS and peri-menopause symptoms. Many years ago, when I took prozac it helped reduce my horrible & miserable symptoms to a huge degree. The downside of prozac was that I gained sooooo much weight and eventually the medication stopped working as effectively. I am presently, not on any medication for depression or ADD. After years of taking anti-depressants and attempting to take stimulants, I decided this Spring to wean myself off of ALL medication. Possibly, this could sound alarming to some individuals here, but I was having so many negative side effects and all the medication seemed to not even help me so I spent one month gradually weaning off of the medications. It was hell, I will not deny it. I was miserable and depressed, but the great news is that gradually, the negative weaning process turned my life around to a much more pleasant place.

Praise God that I have found alternatives to medication and that I am having a much better time dealing with my emotions and ADD issues. I am so thankful that I was determined to make a positive change in my life because in reality the anti-depressants stopped working and the stimulants caused extreme negative side effects.

I am not for or against medication. There are pro's and con's for both traditional medication and alternative approaches. As for me, I am blessed to have found a
natural method with no side effects to treat my depression and some of my ADD symptoms.

In response to NM about the prozac two weeks prior to a period. I can't, for the life of me, figure out when I'm going to have one anymore. That's why the shrink suggested Buspar. It's like ativan without the addiction problems. IT's for anxiety, mood swings...everything I'm experiencing with this peri menopause things. Three mos no period now. I thought it may be the ritalin but shrink said no way. I'm just experiencing the "change". I can't believe the man actually said "the change" when was the last time anyone ever called it that? LMBO

It hit me like a ton of bricks (i'm okay though) that maybe after this menopause thing the ADD symptoms will lighten up a bit. I've noticed it being worse the past couple years. Enough for me to actually seek help. I think I'm the eldest female here, so I'll let you all know how it goes ...LOL.
