There isn't any magic bullet. About lists, I find that the more I use them the better I use them. But the little rebellious streak in me doesn't wanna have to do them every day.
I also find that I'll remember stuff that should be on the list long after I thought it was finished.

My age is 68. This is enough to qualify as an older ADHD'er....eh ?

I first learned about this "behavior stuff" called Attention Deficit Disorder. It was In 1996 upon reading the book: the title " YOU MEAN I AM NOT LAZY CRAZY OR STUPID !"

In any case, it is sure a battle to get things done in the way society expects me to do so.

Hello Older ADDers- I joined this group to hear from and learn from other peoples experiences, tips, etc. that we face as "Older ADDers".

I will start by saying I was diagnosed with ADD in my 40's and so many things in my life started making sense. I have subscribed to many ADD related websites trying to better understand it as well as to learn to live life more effectively. At times I think I am ADD overload over some very simple techniques given on these websites.

For example: Making a To Do List. I have read several articles that have provided suggestions on making effective lists; they all sound great and I have even tried a few.

My problem is consistency; I will use the list a few days and then forget about it. I am looking for suggestions on how to stay motivated and committed to the list and not get distracted by other events which takes precedence over the list and ultimately leads to not utilizing the list.

If there are successful list users in this group, I would love to hear from you.

Hi Everyone -
Is there a focus (HoHoHo - ADD joke) to this group? I'm over fifty, too. OK, let me see...my ex figured I was ADD in the 90's. Worked at the same job for 25 years. Was diagnosed combined severe ADD/ADHD several years ago, following my retirement.

Have tried every ADD med out there, thanks to my local medical shool's psychiatric department's adult adhd clinic. Haven't found any miracle med yet. The meds don't seem to work on me. Currently taking Cymbalta and Adderall.

i am 52 and was only diagnosed a few years ago. I have so many regrets that I didn't know where to go for help many years ago. I just started Wellbutrin which I hope will help with my depression and the ADD

I'm new. 55 years old, finally diagnosed in 2001, though I first suspected I might be ADD in 1996. On meds since 2004? and feeling very frustrated with having the same disorganization problems continue to screw up my life.
Even though I know it's distractibility, sometimes it still feels like laziness when I think .. oh, I can get to that later.

Family

Happiness a choice
Selfish are we to be alone
Open the heart and see family
Blended thru one blood
All one are we free
Care is comfort to share
Defined love is time
Make then the choice priority set
Break chains release fear
To end old begin new
Believe in dreams
Look blind feel love in all
Brain in heart blend
Infinite soul control
What can I do for you be true
Temporary frame don’t waste
Hear the heart do your part
Love is love forever for us
Family are we lets be
