With Shawn's comment on my main blog and now joining ADDer World, he sparked a memory of a book which I found helpful many, many years ago... so long ago; I just don't want to talk about the years involved.
Back in the day, I was struggling with my pool game. I didn't know why and it was frustrating as all heck. I would not accept help, because I was stubborn like that. Well, there was this guy who noticed I needed the help and because I would not really accept any direct assistance he handed me a book and said I might benefit from reading it. Being young and cocky, I doubted that any book or advice would help me. It is kind of weird, or special, now that I think about it. This has happened twice in my life, being handed a special book, which would help, by someone older and wiser than myself.
The book was “Point the Way” by The Monk. It is about the ‘inner’ game of billiards, the mental aspects of the game and life. I remember reading it and I identified with the descriptions of frustrations and lack of control over my pool game. The book is about letting go and finding inner peace in order to perform at one’s best. I have not read the book in so many years that I cannot write specifics at the moment. I am going to re-read it and post a fuller review in the next week or so.
