Welcome to ADDer World Barbara! I hope you find the right medication for you. You will meet quite a few late diagnosed adults here, it's good place to get to know others who can understand your situation.
Huhm, wow, I am trying to remember what, if any side effects I had? I do remember drinking lots of water, which is good for you anyway! I did have some times early on where I felt different, but it is hard to explain. It was like I was seeing and noticing things I never noticed before. I slept a lot better and it was easier to fall asleep in the beginning when on the medication. I got comments at work on how relaxed I was and they did not know I was on meds, that was when the dose was titrated up to what I am on now! I dunno, I think the concerta worked and still does, very well. But I never got the anticipated 12 hour coverage so my head doc now thinks. I started having these evening issues of transitioning from work to home and the meds had worn off, so my mind was spinning again, lost sleep, started to rely on coping with alchohol too much, then that stopped working and I became the old bad person I was! So he added an evening dose of ritalin and I am on 20 mg of that at night, works well, but not 100% at first. He added effexor xr and I was worked up to a dose in the am and then pm, so far so good I think? Now I am working on some very difficult self improvement things with him, more on the anxiety, PTSD, and stuff and it is like I get pumped still ocassionally like the old nasty days, but I am thinking it is because as I deal with stuff with him, it is a lifetime spiderweb that might take longer to deal with than I had anticipated! I am not sure that helped you, I understand people react differently to meds and medication combos!
