Thank you Ashvina,
I wish I could harness that hyperfocus thing, too. Unfortunately, it manisfests itself in computer games! If I could only use it for reading, but as much as I love reading, it is very difficult for me, which made school very diffi…
Thank you all for your comments. I do agree that I need to see a counselor or a psychologist. I'm with Steven, I don't want someone to tell me how to improve, I need someone to delve in and help me find out what is keeping me from doing it. If someo…
Does anyone else have this problem? I go to a psychiatrist's office, but I'm seen by a PA, or something like that. I am on Vyvanse, and it does help, but I go time after time and tell them I still struggle with disorganization, a messy house, and be…
For any ADDers who see a counselor or therapist (or have, in the past). Does your counselor or therapist understand your ADD and how it impacts your life?
Here is my thought in regard to your last message to me. It is very normal and common for ADDers to have a low self-esteem, to feel like a failure in life, to not feel as if they are reaching their potential and to simply have negative opinions about themselves. If you have sincere negative feelings about yourself, ADHD and your life, possibly it would be beneficial to consider going into therapy to discuss your feelings and to come up with strategies that will promote a higher self-esteem with positive thinking? Have you within the past year been in counseling?
Another consideration is medication. Are you taking medication that is helping you focus and accomplish your tasks? If not, perhaps medication would be effective in helping you with the ADHD?
One last thought, how about reading any books that pertain to the gifts of ADHD? It could open up a whole new way of looking at ADHD and it could be an interesting way to look at ADHD in a new light.
Hi there! My older sister Debbie goes to a church that has the same name as yours. For the past 15 years, I have gone to an Assembly of God church. In February, my husband and I are hosting a married couples Valentine's Day dinner. We are planning a fun game with four couples to participate, which is much like "The Newly Wed Game", but I am calling ours "The Not So Newly Wed Game" since most of the couples have been married over 10 years. Anyways, I have to come up with all the questions to ask the couples and we will have a nice prize for the winner. Our church has not had a marriage ministry for a while so we think that this would be a good idea to have a couples dinner. There are members in my church who are now interested in starting up a married couples group in our church so I think that would be great.
Are you involved in any volunteer work with your church?
As far as ADHD being a blessing, I think that there are many positive and negative aspects of this condition, but I try to look at the bright side and not allow it to get me down. I was diagnosed with ADHD over 10 years ago so I have learned so much about it and now I accept it as part of my life and who I am.
Hi! I am a Christian mom of three kids, 10, 13 & 17 years old and I have been married for 20 years. I was diagnosed with ADD about 11 years ago, after my oldest child was diagnosed with ADHD. Since then, my 10 year old has been diagnosed with ADHD and my 13 year old is in the process of getting evaluated for inattentive ADD. There is never a dull moment at our home!
