Profile Information

About me & Relation to ADHD or other condition?
I have had Attention Deficit Disorder all of my life and it has affected me in all aspects of my life. I was finally diagnosed at the age of 37. I am an example of a "late bloomer" as most of us with ADHD are.

Who I am.

My name is Bryan Hutchinson and I have ADD. I was first diagnosed with ADD at the age of 37. Today I have a much better understanding of who I am compared with just a few years ago. All the pieces have come together. It has been a very liberating experience! I want to share that experience with you in various ways. One way, which has been an emotional and necessary way, has been to write a book about my life and creating this website ADDer World, to help raise awareness and understanding for our so called disorder, which can be a gift instead of a disorder.

I have a deep interest in helping others find help for issues which could be related to ADD/HD. Having lived most of my life with undiagnosed ADD I know firsthand how problematic and hard it can be to have extreme difficulties and not know why. I have written a book which tells of my struggles and why diagnosis was helpful and liberating. I also explain how I have used and continue to use my ADDer traits for success and happiness. ADDers are wonderful and creative people with fantastic attributes and it’s about time we stand up and use the positives to bring us ever forward to be happy and successful.

Hey Bryan... yeah, had some issues with my site - my ex was hosting it, and I wound up losing everything on it when I switched to my host. I'm working on a new one, right now LOL... I'll let you know when it's up :) How's everything with you and Joan?

Well Bryan, that is not helpful. However, if you don't mind both me and my clone hanging out here, we will. Though right now it looks like I came in alone...

I signed up recently for two other ning groups, so I imagine that is the source for the confusion. ONE sign in for ALL groups would be, ah, too simple, I guess.

Thanks,
Betsy

Bryan, you are so right! I totally agree...I would not my comments rated. Most ADDers are very sensitive to any kind of judgement or rejection. Even though at the same time, our curiosity is piqued by all the possibilities of how people would rate us. I'm glad you "Just said NO to ratings!" Simpler is almost always better. : )

You're most welcome! So what did you decide? Is there anything you get that is so great it is worth the potential downsides? : )

Great questions Bryan...In my world...I'm constantly fighting the "shiny new object" syndrome...I try to do a cost benefit analysis....what do I get by doing this? What do my readers get? is it really worth the time and trouble of another thing to manage and pay attention to? Unless there is a really big payoff for myself and my readers - JUST SAY NO!

NO has become one of my favorite stress and attention mgt techniques...I used to hate saying no...now I see it as empowering.

So the real question is not what do I think...but what's the real benefit? I didn't hear you give any real benefits at all.

Does this help?

Thanks Bryan! Yours too! I finally got my other profile merged with this one and fixed the email addresses so I get your announcements. Feels good to have that ToDo off my back!

Hello Bryan !

I know you since a good moment, now, through your messages and your web site and I really appreciate what you do for all of us. I was wondering if you could personnally help me...

As you maybe know it, I'm presently writing a book about the gift of ADHD and I'm searching testimonies of people who can see the positive things in this "trouble", through their life experience. I already have some testimonies but I'd like to have some more... I thought you maybe could give me your testimony... I know you had written a book about your life but I'd like prefer to ask you directly my questions by mail (I'm more at ease in English written than spoken). I only have 4-5 questions...

You're free to agree or not but it could be very appreciate...

Give me your news,

Regards,
Véronique

Bryan,
Thanks for the welcome. I have been very busy so I plan on catching up on reading all those interesting posts! I am in the process of getting together ADD/ADHD information and the right names of guests to have for the Dr Oz show. Wondering if that is something you would feel comfortable doing with your book. What professional do you feel is following the best treatment plan for ADD/ADHD?
I need to get ready for a dinner event now.
Thank you for kindly directing me to this lifeline
Best, Janet MR
