What a timely post! I was sitting here contemplating how to get out of Christmas this year! My son's birthday is the 13th, so I have to add THAT to my own list of things to do in December. I have no other wish than to relax and take in the Yule-tide…

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS!!! I am soooooo into downsizing my Xmas duties and spending these days. I am into SIMPLIFYING my life lately and am not going to go along with the normal Holiday fuss anymore just because everyone else does! I mean, how many pe…

HI! Haven't had time to be on this site for awhile, but had to chime in on this topic. This is one of those things that has made my life less than optimal, yet getting it under control has proved nearly impossible. I am always trying to deal with it…

I really like this story! I am crazy, of course, but you write really well and it was interesting to "see inside of your head." :) I am sorry you had the wall come down, but I hope it is back up and that you've gotten it Ninja-proofed! Curious, is…

I am so sorry that you had to feel abandoned by your counselor. That is very unprofessional of her. It is a tiny bit odd that she stated that she "loved" a patient. That surely must have caused some confusing feelings. Especially as she then got ups…

Intuition is a wonderful topic Clarissa! I think you are right, we could all do a little more 'listening to our intuition'; however, that requires a little bit of letting go and we get caught up in trying to control each and every situation we find…

Hi!

I saw your comment on Gary's spazatron post re: noise. Somewhere on this site i found a post about a product called bcalm which is a sound system - well, they sell CD's, Cd's with headphones, and a whole system where the "music" is all downloaded onto an mp3 player. There were testimonials from others who say it helped them focus. See if you can find it in Bryan's archives.

Also, My ADD went thru the roof when I moved across country, as did depression! I now know it was the overwhelm,( which was NOT helped by my ex's yelling and pushing more responsibility on me) I would rather have root canal than move again!!!!
Best of luck to you. Portland's a great area (Our 2nd move was to Vancouver, WA.) You may want to invest in a good light box, the kind used for Seasonal affecive disorder, when winter sets in.
If you discover that your little one has ADD, try to contact me. My daughter attended The Gardner School in Vancouver (1998-99) for Kindergarten, and had the most amazing teacher. She has since left the school and is, last I heard, working as a consultant for parents/families re:education. I can't think of her name right now. Hopefully you will never need such services!

I was diagnosed 10 yrs ago and soon went into denial because I couldn't find a med that helped. Now that I'm about to hit menopause, it became almost unbearable. I've found help with a small dose of natural estrogen and a tiny dose of adderall. My advise is to learn what you can, get support, and work towards embracing your magnificent brain before the hormones change. Of course, you may have NO trouble with hormones, but it is important to keep up your "personal" work, anyway. You're being smart!
Cheers!

Actually, I do look like JC. Once I was auditioning for a German production and the director called me into the room as John Cleese. Then he asked if I was OK with that as long as he didn't mention the war. Imagine -- a German Fawlty Towers fan!

Profile Information

About me & Relation to ADHD or other condition?
Recently diagnosed, I have ADHD, am a 40 year-old SAHM, with a 6 year old in Kindergarten. I'm also in an 8-year marriage that is fraught with joy and frustration, having an early mid-life crisis, and realizing that the only way forward is to get REALLY REAL about what is going on inside of my head!

I've been a wild-brained, gifted, antsy, artsy, chatterbox since I can remember! I could read at age 3 but have trouble remembering my phone number. :)

I have recently moved to a new city and all of the symptoms increased dramatically, which pushed me to find the answer to what the HECK is going on with me. Now I'm here. :)

Intuition, Empathy, Relationships, Oh My!

Hi!

I just posted a blogpost on my crazymessyadd.vox.com blog. I thought I'd repost it here, as it is related to my journey with ADD. I am discovering loads about myself, letting things rise to the surface, allowing acceptance of myself.

I have been focusing inward lately, not felt up to blogging. I've had some real breakthroughs though, wanted to share them for anyone who cares to read!

This year I asked the Universe for CLARITY in my life. I don't make New Year's Resolutions anymore, just d… Continue

Sensory needs vs. Stimulation

Hi everyone,

I have been puzzling over the fact that many ADDers have SENSORY overload issues with things like noise and crowds, getting too busy, etc., yet we also need STIMULATING things to get us going or to make us feel level. Does everyone feel that this is a really strange way to be? It hardly makes sense to me!

It seems like the very thing we need is also the thing that can bring us to our knees. WHY is this??? Like I used to go to lots of loud concerts, but then I've always needed peac… Continue

Is it just me, or...???

Having been newly diagnosed I feel like a dam has burst! I am feeling so many different things that it is causing my head to spin even more than usual. I am full of stuff and starting to blog it all, which helps some.

My questions is: Once diagnosed with AD/HD, did it give anyone else the feeling that could begin to let their frustrations out, whether or not it was "nice" to do so???? I mean, I am sick of making excuses for myself and for holding back, just so non-adders ar… Continue

Good Morning, I'm New!

Hello,

I am glad to find the group here, I'm excited to get to know other ADDers. I have only recently been diagnosed and am looking forward to the journey with you all! Mainly, I am glad that I am no longer living in that "Am I Going Nuts?" world. I had noooooooo idea what has been "wrong" with me the past 40 years and suddenly something makes sense. Not everything of course, but something. :)

I am, of course, trying to make sense of what it means. I have a tentative diagnosis, but the counse… Continue
