I know this is not a viable solution for you, as I'm assuming you and he sleep in the same bed, but I saw this pneumatic bed alarm clock and immediately thought of your situation...

I presume that he's no longer taking the Ambien! Because that would be step #1. I have the same problem with sleeping through alarms, though not as bad as your husband. Unfortunately I've been unemployed for a while, so I've gotten into the habit ...

The last summer that I lived at my parents' house and was working, I would set three alarms for myself and place them in difficult to reach places in my room so that I would have to get out of bed and think a bit to turn them off. I usually slept ...

Just to let everyone know, it doesn't matter if he goes to bed at 11PM or 3AM, he can sleep and sleep and sleep. when he and I first got together, he didn't have to be at work until 11AM and he was on medication. When he got off the medication and...

What a great attitude you have! Baby steps is the key to everything. I went to an ADHD seminar once and the teacher was ADHD, this was funny she was the last one there, late of course and someone in the audience had to tell her she forgot to zip u...

How does your husband feel about this problem? Has he come up with any solutions? It sounds like you have done your best at trying to help him get up. If it were me I would tell him it's his responsibility to get himeself up you have done your bes...

Hrmmmm, this sounds very familiar. I used to have this problem for a long time, since childhood until it was discovered that I am allergic to wheat. After I stopped eating wheat I did not feel so exhausted and started waking up on time, even early...

First, your husband is lucky to have a wife who is willingly to seek outside help and voice her concern in a caring way. My story is different than yours because my marital problems didn't get really bad until I finally realized I had ADD, seeked ...

Hi and welcome, I can relate to tuning out the alarm clock!! I have done it many times and it has led to being late or in such a hurry that it ruins the day for me!! I have some very obnoxious alarm clocks now and if I have a really important priority in the morning - I will use my cellphone on vibrate alarm and put it under my pillow!

Alarm Clocks

Just wondering if anyone has dealt with this situation. I'm a very light sleeper and the slightest noise or whatever will wake me up. Shane on the other hand is such a heavy sleeper. We have two alarm clocks in our room that I set to help wake him up in the morning along with the cell phone alarm. I have tried clustering them all together on his nightstand to spreading them throughout the room. He will sleep through all of them. The alarms end up turning themselves off because he does not wake u… Continue

Intake

So, since Shane has agreed to see someone and get back on medication, we were able to get him an intake assessment for next week. So, we are excited about that and looking forward to that. We both have agreed that he needs to get started with this individually first and then incorporate me at a later date. Now, to just deal with his "tweaking" episodes, going to have to and help redirect him when needed. Have to admit that his "tweaking" drives me insane, but I don't get it and it's noone's faul… Continue

Breakthrough?!

Call it what you will, lol. Shane came home from work last night and we talked. He stated that he started to do some research himself and did some reading. He told me I was right. (I'm sorry, can he repeat those words, I hardly hear them, lol.) He said that what he had been reading was totally us as a married couple, he said he couldn't believe it. He also told me he was afraid. I asked him why and he said that he had read a lot of angry posts by spouses that ended up divorcing their spouse who… Continue

Another Day

My husband and I had a "talk" the other night and it was so nice to speak to each other calmly and be able to listen to each other instead of screaming and saying hurtful things to each other. Shane told me that he didn't realize things had gotten that bad and I had to tell him point blank, that they had gotten that bad. I know he was upset and I didn't want him to be upset, I want him to care and I'm sure he does. He agreed to meet with a psychiatrist who himself has adult ADD, I thought, who b… Continue

New Experience

So, I am actually happy I came across this website. I need support, advice, answers, and just people to talk to. My husband is a 31 year old male with adult ADD. He used to be on Stratterra and it worked great for him. Eventually, the side effects became too much for him, so he took himself off of his medication about 2 years ago. He did real well for a year. After we got married March 1, 2008, I started to notice a little bit of a change in him but not a lot. Our issues didn't really seem to hi… Continue
