Having a high stress life, along with depression is bad enough... add in the fact that I'm a single parent of five, four with comorbid disorders and including varied degrees of ADHD.
My mom passed just a week ago, (very unexpectedly - she was only...
One of my doctor's has a great system... he has his receptionist call me the day before the appt. (and sometimes two days in a row before the appt.) lol! That was because of the one time I forgot to set my alarm. I often forget dates and although ...
As a single parent and having four of my five children (as well as myself) having variants of the disorder in various degrees and most with co-morbid disorders , some within the autistic spectrum... it often feels like the blind leading the blind,...
Most people with ADD often go undiagnosed because there are not many outwardly noticable behaviors. AD/HD is something we are born with, medications help with symptoms, but do not make the disorder go away - ever. We eventually develop coping mech...
Lol... Sometimes I compare it to being abducted by space aliens. When I finally "come to" I realize I'd lost a block of time. I call it zoning. Hyperfocusing is altogether different, as you are trying so hard to concentrate on something, willing y...
Many debate the issue of whether this is a blessing or curse, even I with AD/HD. Four of my children have also been blessed with this disorder, I also have one child who is NT. Not all of us are on medications and for those of us that are - not al...
I may also have a good dose of anxiety but we're still sorting that out :) Much of my anxiety though was calmed through medicating my ADHD, but there seem to be leftovers. It was sort of a question at first if I have ADHD with a side order of anxi...

I have combo ADD/ADHD with depression and anxiety/panic disorder... I've also had/have substance abuse issues which really I think all goes hand in hand with ADHD. Coming from a background in psychology, I think my school of thought is more that t...
I have ADHD, mainly the inattentive type, but with some hyperactivity. I Also have four of my five children with ADHD as well. One is maianly the inattentive type, three have the hyperactive type.
Oh My.... somehow we seem to know, even though we might not know exactly what we are knowing :-) I am glad you have a good doctor that can help you properly. I think the problem with ADHD medication is that some folks just don't have doctors familiar enough with ADHD to prescribe them correctly; dose etc and then we hear all these bad reports. I wish I could take meds, but my system can't handle 'em. I have learned to cope the long, hard way as you probably have too.
Welcome to ADDer World Janice! Its great to have you here and look forward to learning more about you. I am also inattentive. It sure is starting to seem to me that inattentive may be more common than hyperactive, just under diagnosed due to the nature of inattentive.
Thanks for joining us!
Bryan
