About me & Relation to ADHD or other condition?
Hi everyone! My name is Kristin and I am the proud parent of an almost 13 year old son. (Yeek! the teen years!) We've struggled with the big ADHD for over 6 years now. Along the way we've added a nice little friend called "Anxiety". Don't want to make light of it, but geez if you don't laugh, you'll cry. After trying almost every medication out there, we are currently not taking any, due to me homeschooling this year. We have really good days, and some bad, but mostly we're finding a new way everyday. My son is my life. After years of wishing his ADHD would just go away, I'm finally at a point of acceptence. Now, we just take everyday as it comes and try to support him in anyway we can. It's sure been quite a ride, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Hello Kristin! How was your Thanksgiving Day with your family? I hope that you and your family enjoyed yourselves!

How is the homeschooling coming along this year? What grade is your son in? My kids are on break from school for a few more days with Thanksgiving vacation. My hubby and I were brave and went Christmas shopping on Black Friday! We were out and about for about 7 hours and by the time we reached home, I was exhausted!

I am no longer working the freelance job, due to the supervisor leaving the business and she has never been replaced. I miss the extra income and social interactions with clients!

My hubby got laid off work in October so he is currently looking for a new job, but it has been rather challenging in his line of work. My husband has been doing all kinds of cool projects in our home so I am delighted to have him actively helping me with organizing our place!

Keep in touch and let me know what is new with you.

Hi Kristin! I saw that you are online so I wanted to stop by your profile to wish you a terrific week and to say, "Hello!"

How is homeschooling going for you and your son? My daughter's laptop computer had some technical difficulty so the cyber school just sent us a new laptop computer, which is good!

Recently, I have been doing freelance Makeup Artist work for a cosmetic company. It is an upbeat and enjoyable job! For over 22 years, I have been in the beauty industry and I have a passion for this work!

Is Michigan starting to have cooler weather, yet? This week it is warmer in Pittsburgh, but we have had on and off cooler weather, which I love. My favorite time of year is Autumn! I love the beautiful colorful leaves!

I hope that all is well with you! Take care!

Hello Kristin! It was so nice hearing from you! I wanted to mention that my summer was much like your summer so try not to feel too guilty or down about it. I am not working much, other than some freelance, my husband's boss decided to NOT permit any summer vacations this year (can you believe it?) and our family budget just did not allow us to go on vacation.

We may not have had the luxury of vacationing, but we have definitely received many unexpected blessings and one was a new car, which was very much needed!

My daughter in 9th grade begins cyber schooling at home for the second year. She will begin at the end of August. My 18 year old is going into 12th grade and he goes to an alternative school located at the community college. My youngest daughter, 11, will begin 6th grade. I was going to cyber school her, but found out in August that the cyber school is filled up the "virtual" classes fast so there is too many classes that would not be with a teacher.
Due to my daughter having many special education learning needs, I decided to send her to the public school, but I am not thrilled with this decision since I am not thrilled with the middle school.

Today, I received a letter from the public school and they informed me that starting in January they will begin cyber schooling students at home. Any students that want to leave the public school and cyber school at home will receive a laptop computer, books, material and everything they need for FREE!
The local school district is having local teacher's provide instruction for the cyber school. All kids that are cyber schooled at home are welcome to all public school sports, events and activities, which is nice. I am going to look into this new cyber school that the public school is starting next year. I hope that they provide special education for kids with IEP's.

Best wishes on your upcoming homeschool year!

Hi Kristin! I saw that you are online, too! Those fishing pictures are cute! Looks like some fun! How has your summer been going? What is new with you?

My dad was visiting me, my sisters and our families this past weekend. All of us went out to dinner at the Red Lobster, which is our dad's favorite restaurant!

Are you on Facebook? If so, I could add you as my friend! Have a good evening and take care!

What is up with you all? Been fishing latelty, I have been wanting to go, but the doctors are trying to slow me down, they say I am doing too much stuff! How do you keep a hyper Lizard like myself down? I hope Josh is well and staying away from the girls! My oldest had her heart broken a couple of months ago with her BF of a year.

Thank you... Don't worry about not taking more time with it. Sometimes words are more effective when we don't spend to much time over them. In my writing I have found that I have done better in writing competitions when I write "from the heart" and spend less time over-thinking it....

Thanks again for helping my undergrad teachers develop more empathy.

Hi,
I just wanted to thank you for the "dear teacher" letter you wrote. I used this in my tutorials last week. It brought some great, thoughtful responses. The last paragraph of your letter really struck a chord and helped put things into perspective. I was a great discussion point. Thank you so much.

I was wondering if I could use it on my blog for the same purpose... www.learn2bebuddies.blogspot.com

Thanks again....
Amanda
