"I understand what you mean about feeling like you have having to work twice as hard as other classmates.  It takes me twice as long to be able to read things and comprehend without wondering what I just read.  And writing a paper,…"

Diagnosed, College, Completely Overwhelmed

It is finally official, I have been diagnosed as of last Thursday with A.D.H.D. Combined Type.  It was as I expected, however, there were a lot of things I learned about myself that day that I didn't expect.  Apparently I am quite a bit smarter than I ever imagined.  My perceptual skills were in the 92nd percentile, problem solving was in the 97th percentile and I have a pretty average processing speed.  I have a half decent memory (who knew...), but my problem is retrieving the…See More

Fear of Failure

My current reality is that I am afraid to be seen.  I am afraid of people seeing my accomplishments or anything that I feel may be as failures.  I am afraid of drawing attention to myself, good or  bad.  It seems as I don't want people to have the chance to judge me on any level.  If I slouch a little or don't stand up completely straight, I feel they won't see me.  If my hands are in my pockets, I don't feel quite as exposed.  I don't want people to see me learn, I'm more okay after I feel…See More

My beginning, where to go from here....

I find it interesting that most adults at some point in their life try to figure out "who they are", "what makes them do the things they do, act the way they do".  I am one of those.  I have always asked myself those same questions, in one way or another.  I never really knew there would be some sort of an answer for me.Years before now, I had always joked with myself and my family that I was ADD.  Never really knowing the true meaning, symptoms, etc. of ADD.  It wasn't until a little over a…See More

Profile Information

About me & Relation to ADHD?
I am a 28 year old wife, mother of two, full time student, part time job holder. I have been questioning having ADD for at least the last 3 to 5 years and recently started seeing a counselor who has reinforced my theories about myself. I am slowly working through all of this new information and figuring out how ADD relates to me and the way I am.
Share something interesting about yourself and life with ADHD.
I am overly energetic and have recently taken up the sport of roller derby. I have always been a lover of skating, but this is taking it to the next level. It allows me to put my time into something I love, take my aggression out on other people on purpose, it gives me the speed of the track and is an easy way for me to exercise.
