Hello Lisa! In May, I began an elimination diet, which included dairy, sugar, the bread group and any artificial flavors or preservatives. Also, I began eating mostly organic foods, including meat, eggs, fruit and veggies. I try to stay away from foods that have hormones or antibiotics in them.
From March to the present, I have lost a total of 24 lbs and I am back to the weight that was my goal. Very exciting to me! I do think that I have many sensitivities and so do my kids. All four of us have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. There is never a dull moment in our home!
Welcome to ADDer World Lisa! I so know what you mean about the gluten, sugar and dairy. I never realized that I had food allergies until I was nearly 40 and I just thought I was going through a mid-life crises! I fall off the wagon time and time again, eating ice cream or something similiar and I always feel terrible the next day. Thanks for joining us!

About me & Relation to ADHD or other condition?
Diagnosed as an adult with ADHD, inattentive type, I left a career in the corporate world to become an ADHD coach. Two years after becoming a coach, I began to have physical discomfort that stopped me in my tracks. They may have always been there, but new stressors and midlife invited an array of symptoms that refused to be ignored. Paying more attention to my body meant I would not ignore what was happening. I began the elimination diet and have uncovered some of the mystery. gluten=BAD. sugar=BAD. dairy=BAD.
Since I began this part of my journey, I have looked back at family history and discovered a gold mine of information that confirms the genetic tendencies to sensitivities. I have found as well, a few more souls with similar issues that I feel compelled to share with as I learn about eating a whole new way on the path to a fulfilling life. I invite comments and suggestions.
