I take the 10mg Ritalin at 4pm - so the rebound effect happens for me at around 7pm. I make sure I am away from other people because they are the ones who suffer! So I go upstairs to the studio and paint. It's good for me at any time - helps me t...

Yes I do! But now I am used to the 'rebound' and am prepared for it, I tend to be able to 'wait' until it has passed! :)

I agree - get a professional to do it - your ideas are really good, but need a graphic designer to do 'the business' The content of the book will be BRILLIANT - as all your others have been. I will buy it, for sure. :) Mags/Boogie

Profile Information

About me & Relation to ADHD or other condition?
I was diagnosed in April 2008 with ADHD - aged 50

I have been a teacher and then Deputy headteacher for 30 years - I always found I was really good with the hyperactive children, now I know why!

I now teach 3 days a week and coach adults and families with ADHD 2 days :)

In September I am starting an MA course in SpLD. (Specific Learning Difficulties, but I think it should be Specific Learning Differences)

I was thrilled when at the interview, when I said 'I am the least academic teacher you'll ever meet' The professor said 'It doesn't matter'

The BEST BEST answer!

No other answer would have been right for me!

School Reports

I have found some of my old high school reports while clearing out Mum's house - they shout ADD all over them!

The words 'easily distracted' and 'she can do the work when she's interested'

and 'needs to make more effort'

'has the ability but not the application'

'often arrives late to lessons'

'distracts the other pupils'

etc etc ect

I remember the shame I felt reading them the first time - but I am now reframing all those feelings in the light of my ADHD - it's a good feeling :)

Teacher training and ADD

I went to train as a teacher in 1975.

The lecturers were excellent - and all good teachers themselves. We had 9 week blocks for teaching practice and it was really demanding.

Our academic ability was assessed in various ways - and , fortunately for me, it was by no means all written.

We had a big dissertation to write which was really interesting because it was a child study.

Essays?

Well - we had about one a month and at the end of the 3 years had to send our five best for assessment by Lo… Continue

Teacher with ADHD

When I was considering careers (many years ago, I am 52 now) the three careers available to ordinary girls like me were nursing, teaching and office work.

I really wanted to be a vet - but there was no way I would pass the science exams, and I knew it.

I had decided, from age 7, to become a nurse. My poor teddies were doctored and nursed for years! One morning, just before posting of my application forms to the teaching hospitals (they were filled in) I woke up suddenly with a blinding flash o… Continue

Hi Mags!

I'm a French Canadian author who's presently working on a book's project about adults ADHD. More precisely, I'm searcing testimonies of ADDers who can see the good sides of the trouble.

When I read your profile, I though that you could be one of these positive persons.

So, if you are interested to share your point of vue about ADHD with my future readers, you just have to write me at :

Have a good day !

Hello Mags, nice to hear that since you have been diagnosed you can now find the real you and expose your gifts to mus all, have a wonderful day.

Soul Sight

Quiet out hear in
Talking into me
Deep far down
Shallow is depth
To hear the story
The life of mine
You and me apart
Together one heart
Why so much dark
Can you not see
Sight is from the heart
The eye is the judge
The inside does know
And has always been
Your love is the soul
The soul is your love
See from within
Hear thru the eyes
Along the journeys road
Pour out into the stream
Let go it will flow
The love heaven knows
Gives the heart our soul
Love is love will love
