Hey sis, nice to have you on the site. I think you will find a lot of good information here and be able to provide a lot of input from your experiences too. I am glad you joined us :-) Yeah, I should change that from creator to founder, that would sound a lot better.

Profile Information

About me & Relation to ADHD or other condition?
I figured that I would join since well after all Bryan Mr. Creator you are my brother............oh and his nephews suffer from ADD and ADHD. I have two children one 16 who suffers from ADD and one who just turned 9 who has ADHD. My 16 years old has very significant problems both with school and socially. At this moment he is in a Youth Academy three states away from me getting the help that he needs. He was alsways slow in school and I knew that from the time he began grade school...........I did everything to get him the extra help he needed to go through those years...........he had special education every year. Then after many years we discovered that he had dyslexia which only added to the mix of his frustration in school. Well to say the least he was never on medication for anything until recently, but the medication he is on is not for treating ADD but rather depression which is helping him a great deal. There really isn't a good medication out there for ADD unless you are looking at Straterra...........I have lots of experience with ADD/ADHD. My youngest who is ADHD and has been on medication since he was 2 years old......we have to constantly adjust his medication since his body adjusts to it quite fast. However, the biggest difference that I notice between the two boys is that while one can't focus or maintain concentration the other can't focus or evern sit still unless it is something that interests him...........My youngest is a very intelligent child and has been for a very long time and I find the most problems that I have with him in school is he gets bored with things very fast. He usually maintains an A/B average in school when his medication is on target because he is able to concentrate on what he is doing. He memorizes alot. The trade off with medication is that some of the medication has side affects and one that we discovered with him when he was on concerta was that he suffered from sever anxiety..........so we changed his medication to a new medication just introduced in the last year and it has worked out great for him so far. So he takes Straterra to lessen the anxiety and Vyvanse for his Hyper Activity and ADD. There are certaint medications that I will never allow my children to take and the main one is Ritalin there are to many side affects and problems with that medication....therefore my children will only take medciation which cause less problems for them in long run, I have found that the alternative medications work great.

My Experience with ADHD

I am the little sister of Bryan..........I have two children the oldest is 16 and my youngest is 9. Both of my children have problems with ADD and ADHD. My oldest has ADD which has presented many problems for him in school, he is unable to maintain focus on his subjects and gets distracted quite often which leads to less than stellar grades. In addition he suffers from a mood disorder and depression which only adds to the hurdles he faces in his daily life. He has been put on medication to assit… Continue
