There is also the issue of a child who is extremely gifted (my child tests in the 99th percentile) and who also has ADD. My son is at the very low end of the spectrum for ADD, but he is there - and he has Sensory Processing Disorder (not Asbergers...

I would take the chocolate off and no heart in the background. I would also not include the quote from the Dr. on the front, but would do it on the inside cover. The second red is a great blue-red, classy red color, not orange....oh, so I guess th...

Dana, I take the Adderall XR 20 mgs in the morning, then I take 10 mgs at around 4 or 5. Some days I am OK and do not need that second dose, but it is what I need. I definitely have the rebound effect as well. I get flat cranky...usually the days ...

For the first two posters, I have one word: Denial. I think it is probably in direct response/correlation to the intensity of the feelings that you have about that loss. Because we feel things so intensely, shutting off completely is a likely resp...

Away We Go

Last night my husband and I had a rare week night to ourselves. We went to go see a movie, Away We Go.

There were a couple of scenes in the movie that brought me to my knees. The first scene was when Katie Gyllenhall's character asked Verona if her mother had imparted any motherly wisdom to her before she died. This is super pertinent to my life because I came to motherhood relativel late, like the character Verona. And, like Verona, having lost my mother before she could share in motherhood wi… Continue

Hi Michelle! Thanks so much for responding to my blog as your comments were extremely helpful to me (and that's an understatement). After having read your comments, I'm fairly certain that what I'm experiencing right now is something very similar to what you've recently experienced/endured. Similarly, I'm guessing that my hormones (in pure peri-menopausal fury) are the driving force to my recent diagnoses of ADHD. I wanted to let you know that I have an appointment for my yearly physical and pap smear coming up this month and I've already spoken with my doctor about the exacerbation of symptoms I'm experiencing. For most of my life, I've had problems with low impulse control, depression, frustration, distraction, anxiety, hypersensitivity to criticism, prone to emotional outbursts, feeling easily overwhelmed, and so on (gee, I sound so delightful...hahaha) but it's just been in the last few years where I've noticed my short-term memory has really deteriorated, and I've noticed an increase in muscle aches and pain.

I noticed that you said that you were going back to school as an adult, and that's what I did as well. I started back to college at age 27. I changed my major more times than I change my mind in a typical day so I'm glad to say I survived it, along with making it through graduate school for Social Work. May I ask what your major is? I love the fact that you seem so well informed and aware (and willing to share your knowledge). Thanks again for your openness! You made a positive impact on my day- Penni
