Hmmm...I guess that research does not apply to me. I have never had sleep disorder, although I realised that I sometimes I need more sleep than usual on certain days. But that was started in my adulthood. So, I don't know. But I'll remember it whe...

Tony, I've sent an e-mail to TotallyADD.com, the producer of the documentary. They said that on April they will reserve the rights for the DVD production of the film. You can subscribe to their website if you want to be updated on this. Riri

Until now I only managed to watch about 1/3 of it, but I can already say that it's a very good documentary. I wish it would come up as a DVD so I could buy it. I didn't manage to download it. Anyway, I had both good information and a good laugh a...

I went to a psychologist a couple of years ago to find out why I suffered from recurring depression, or was it even depression. At that time, I was already in my third episode, all of which were so bad, severe; I even googled to find some options ...

My 1st anniversary of being an ADDer

A couple of days ago I browsed through my books and thought of re-reading one of my ADD books. As I opened it, I saw the date of purchase was September 2008. I was stunned. It’s been a year now since I discovered about my ADD.

It brought me back to the moment when I feel that there was ‘something wrong’ about me. At that time, I came to realise that my mind was always drifted while reading a book or during conversation. It is common for me to miss what I have read in the previous page, making r… Continue

B-Calm Review (posted with permission)

One of the most challenging issue in my ADD is focusing. It is a damn hard work; my mind keeps wandering off wildly and I’ve been having serious problems in taming them. However, I recently learned that I need certain sounds to help me focus, especially for the tasks that requires concentration such as writing and reading. I realised the kind of sounds that help me focus is a low, rumble sound that is produced by fan, AC, laundry machine, or white noise. That is why I always find myself work at… Continue

An ADDer in a gym

Forgetfulness and ADD are good friends. In fact, they might be a couple, a match made in heaven. Some forgetfulness are quite silly, can be forgiven, and harmless. But most of the time, it may create troubles not only to you, but also to the innocent people around you. Just what I experienced for the last two days in a row. You are free to judge whether it is a tragedy or comedy. The story goes like this....

Two days ago I went to the gym, in which I've been the member for four year. In that gy… Continue

Down to Earth-an article by Sari Solden

I received the article below in my mailbox yesterday. It's written by Sari Solden, one of ADD experts and the writer of a book on ADD and women (have you read her book?). I think it's good to share it with you.

Down to Earth

Well, its Earth Day and so what better a time could there be to get grounded, to become rooted in the way the earth( the world, life) operates and to get in sync with it instead of fighting against it all the time.

So on this Earth Day, I want to talk abou… Continue

Just when I thought I have overcome my ADD traits.....

For the past few weeks I felt really content. My thesis is progressing well because I finally found a way (several ways, actually) to put all ideas into writing; I could work on it for three hours (usually at the stroke of 20 minutes, I'd be gone, physically, mentally). Yes, finally I could conquer the world!

But to my dismay, it lasted only two weeks. On 3 April, when I was ready to work on it in the library, the brain is cloudy again. I couldn't concentrate, despite every effort I made to foc… Continue

Hi Riri! I wanted to say thankyou for your insightful comments on my blog because it made me stop in my tracks and really think about things, especially when it comes to my career. I had actually typed a big long message to you not even a 1/2 hour ago but I've somehow managed to "lose" it before I even had a chance to send it to you (so I'm starting over from scratch again). I get frustrated with myself when I do absent-minded things like that.

I wanted to let you know that I plan to journal about some of the questions you brought up so I can try to determine a few things out. While I truly enjoy being in the Social Work profession, I need to ask myself if I like this particular job and if this agency is being as accommodating as it could be be since I'm feeling so overwhelmed. I certainly have a lot of things to sort out and explore.

I also wanted to let you know how much I've enjoyed reading your blogs. You seem like you are a very talented writer who does a great job of expressing her thoughts and feelings. I'm hoping you'll continue to send me additional comments, remarks and words of wisdom that you think I may benefit from and/or grow from. Once again, I want to say thanks, Riri! I need to be around people like you who give me things to think about. I hope you're having a great day!

Hi Riri,

Thanks for your request! I'd like to read your blog, it looks interesting. I am not going to right now, since I am just starting to regain some focus after a lousy day yesterday! : )

Hi Riri! Thanks for the comment on my blog... your words of wisdom did make me feel better! I don't have insurance right now, so I am currently unmedicated and not getting counseling or anything else in the "real world" either! I've applied for public assistance and will hear back within a few weeks. But the problem in the past has been, because I have held lots of part-time jobs in the past, I usually get found to be not disabled enough to get any type of public assistance. Maybe I'll be doing better if I can get medication and support! Anyway, thanks again so much for your kind words!

CONGRATULATIONS for finishing several stories!!!! Wow! That is exciting!
I have to admit that I have one story only part way done, sitting in my bedroom collecting dust for several months! I had a great idea and completed the first chapter of my book, but then I started to lose interest along the way. I am thinking about writing a short story, instead. It would be so rewarding to eventually have some of my writing published!

Keep on plugging away at your short stories and keep me posted on how it is coming along!

Hello Riri! I was in my 30's when I was diagnosed with ADD, too. You sound very creative with your love for writing and music! What type of writing do you do?
