I've had ADD/ADHD my whole life, I managed to make my way into adulthood in relative normality through things I now recognize as my own set of coping mechanisms adapted from the situation. Of course it would have been a lot easier if I had had a treated and structured childhood but I also think that knowing very little about what I was going through and already having a crazy life forced me to create those coping mechanisms. FYI- apparently I lost this ability somewhere..
I made it through high school and college, at times barely. Since college i've been struggling with the effects of ADD/ADHD and I am currently a leaf in the wind. The depression and anxiety that go along with it have been debilitating in recent years.
