I don't know... You're just some stranger on the Internet and I'm not even sure I really want that book-it's just a book that you really want me to read. It's just a material possession in the end. What does this book say that's really so meaningful to you-or more importantly that's going to be meaningful to me? How about a direct quote from it? Your favorite quote from the book.
Hi ADHDer, Welcome to the site. Pretty interesting stuff you wrote/commented to Voodoo. I need to go back and read it thoroughly but just skimmed it quickly when I saw Voodoo's I'm Just Sad, why bother blog.
Yeah I put it on my Christmas wish list... And I can always buy it. No big deal.
I wonder what the cause of ADD originally was?
I think having ADD is like being forever in the state of halfway drunk. That may not be correct, but I've felt like that. I don't feel like explaining exactly what I mean and I wouldn't really know because I haven't literally been drunk before.
I also think ADD people can't be completely inattentive, because you'd be dead if you couldn't focus at all. Just something else I thought about a long time ago.
First off quoting what you said earlier "Look, I have ADHD and so does my 10 year old son. I have researched and researched. Do you know that the brain patterns of ADHD children are almost identical to those of Buddhist Monks? Yes, those same monks who through meditation can alter the size of parts of their brains?" Lol! I didn't know it was true but I always had a hunch that maybe those monks had ADD.
It's only a temporary thing-until I get through left-brained academy. Plus I find a sort of balance...it's impossible to describe...perhaps it's my left and right brain working in harmony. (I always was slightly ambidextrious my left hand can write in print...although yeah dominently right-handed.). Do you think I could go through college without my ADD meds? I'm assuming that I pick the right college for me of course. I dunno, I like to look at different perspectives and medicated is a perspective. If college isn't as left-brained as elementary-high school, then yeah, I might try it (obviously it would have to be slightly gradual for the body to get used to the change of course). I haven't been off my meds during school since 6th grade. Oh and also, if ADD people are extremely right-brained, what does that make OCD people? Are they indeed extremely left-brained?
Hi. I want to tell you a little about me. I'm a kid who has ADD. I take perscription medication and half of the reason was my choice. I knew before I was diagnosed that there was always something different about me, but I didn't know what. I thought it might be depression so I decided that I wasn't going to be sad anymore. It took a couple years but then I was happy...schoolwork however seemed too easy for me even with the ADD that I unknowningly had. I went into a harder class the next year and that was when my mom found out about ADD. The meds helped me think-not that I couldn't think before, but I could think more efficiently.
Sorry. I got a little bit too much into that. What I mean to say basically is that I totally understand and respect your decision not to take meds. I think each ADD individual should have the option to take meds or not-even if they're a kid.
