"Are you in Athens? If so, where did you find a good counselor? My husband is from Athens and we have friends who could use the name of a good counselor that understands ADHD, something that seems to be rare in Greece."

Profile Information

About me & Relation to ADHD?
I was diagnosed with ADD in elementary school @ 4th grade. I always had poor social skills and felt out of place around other people. Teachers and other head figures thought I was difficult with the intention to be so. Instructions and direction of a task was not always understood threfore followed. Superior figures still to this day seem to think I'm just not attentive and am not doing as directed. But the truth is I may not have understood what was instructed and interpreted the information wrong that was said. Thoughts are not always orginized. I sometimes feel distressed, out of place and overwhelmed when
I'm disorganized with bills and such. I've been through many jobs in a short lifetime. I had to switch careers once or twice. Not neccesarely due to ADD. I am now comfortable with the career Im in and the place I work for. I have learned over the years to go out of my way and not have conflict with coworkers and superiors. This has helped me greatly with keeping steady employment at one establishment. I go out of my way to keep my boss happy by not argueing with him and agreeing with him most of the time. When he aproaches me with concerns about my perfomance I agree thank him for bringing it to my attention and tell him I will do what ever it takes to make things right.
I can only go soo far on explaining my challenges in life. I could write a book just on my experiences alone. Life is full of learning experiences. I never stop learning how to live with ADD and how to adapt to the world around me. The key is knowing your limits and don't limit your self. I try to live by these words. Don't try to defeat ADD, just figure out what I have to do to keep it from defeating me. Life can be a struggle every day and this applies in every normal situation and event that challenges me.

7 Crucial Tips for Parents and Teachers of Children with ADHD "Uncommonly helpful, down-to-earth, immensely practical and readable Book." - David A. Crenshaw, Ph.D., ABPP. Director of Rhinebeck Child and Family Center, LLC

Books

“'One Boy's Struggle' is a real eye-opener! Bryan writes of hope and despair, and the all-too-common conflict between desperately wanting to achieve and please, yet suspecting that you’ll fail again… and soon.”
-Dr. Edward Hallowell

Book on Doubt

Writer's Doubt is not specifically about ADHD. It is about how I, with ADHD, overcame doubt and became a prolific writer. For anyone who has ever felt doubtful about what they are capable of.
