Helping my ADHD daughter when it comes to school & other kids

Ok, this one is a biggie & I'm definitely looking for advice on this one! My 7 year old will be starting 2nd grade in the Fall. But all throughout 1st grade Alli struggled with 2 main things: 1. he ability to pay attention & stay focused during class, which her teacher was WONDERFUL about working with her, knowing of her ADHD, and would try to alter certain things for Alli (i.e. allowing her to work independantly vs. with a group of other kids so she can focus easier, etc.) BUT, then… Continue

When both you & your 7 year old daughter are battling ADHD at the same time....

OMG I have NO clue how to handle my daughter at times! (I know, I know, that goes with the whole "parenting territory" but that's not what I mean) When I am so constantly torn between the mother in me as well as the adhd in me that allows me to empathize & sympathize with her & at times my heart breaks for her because I know EXACTLY what she is going through and then the ADHD in me that just has ZERO patience for the rediculousness at times, no matter how much "I get it" & I just… Continue

Trying desperately to embrace rather than fear change!

I am having a serious internal battle right now and I guess I just need to vent to people who actually mean it when they say "they understand what I'm going through", ya know? Ok, so here's the scenario: my family & I are in the process of moving into a new home. And for all intents & purposes this is a really good thing, it really is. We will now have SO much more room for us & the kids, etc. So I do know, in my heart of hearts, that this is a good…

I am So sick & tired of "Comorbid Disorders"!!

This blog will be very brief I just HAD to put it out there to people who will GET IT! I am so sick & tired of every single symptom or disorder could be the result of a comorbid disorder. Take me, for example, I have had MANY diagnosises over the last 15 years or so but my current diagnosis is "Mixed Bipolar Disorder and Adult ADHD" WTF does that mean?!?!?! (figuratively, not literally, I know what it means lol) I love that, too, "Adult" ADHD as if it… Continue

I am so incredibly frusterated!

AHHHHH!! I am just so damn frusterated! I have NO idea what's wrong with me but something is definitely wrong! And I am SO sick of everyone's answer being "there's a pill for that"! I mean, I am not at all anti-medication! I'm really not. But I think there is SO much more that our brains are capable of without medication but the only people out there who are willing to share the knowledge on HOW to improve my overall mental health want me to pay $250 (just 1 example) to tell me what they… Continue

Is it possible to be depressed without being...depressed

I have been trying desperately to figure out what my "deal" is. Over the last 6-8 mos. I have ZERO desire to be around people, anyone really, even my own kids! Now, please let me clarify that a little. My HEART wants to spend every waking moment with my children! But my already low patience level has dropped even further as has my ability to concentrate on ANY task at hand while even only one other person is talking let alone my kids! Like, I have NO tolerance for noise of just about any… Continue
