ADDer World Anything and Everything ADHD

Anything & Everything ADHD

Good Morning All,

It seems that many people are having problems with their jobs and keeping their jobs.

One thing I have learned over the years is keep documentation of all that goes on
in the workforce. If you are written up or treated different because of your ADD/ADHD
make sure you keep written documentation on any action taken upon you. If you are fired
this way you will have a trail of what happended o you at work.

I am going through a case now and glad that I toook notes and dates of all issues I went through.
If you do this your case has a chance....without, unless you get lucky, you do not have a chance.

So remember document all issues and do not be afraid to over document.

I have an extemsive background in payroll, HR and EEOC filings so feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thank you for your time and hope this helps everyone.

Hi Mindy! Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! I'm a social worker for a home health agency in Iowa. If you get a chance, feel free to read by blog that I posted on my homepage shortly after I found this website and then I will fill you in on the rest (It's easy to find as I only have 1 blog so far). My Psychiatrist signed FMLA papers approximately 1 1/2 weeks ago stating I needed to be off work for a few weeks as my mental and physical health was collapsing and my short-term memory was practically nonexistent (although in the FLMA papers he didn't mention anything about my physical health deteriorating or my increasing inability/constant struggle to keep up with the agency's paperwork standards which they want all papers ( Evaluations, Care Plans, 60 day Summaries, Visit Notes, and etc) turned in within a 24 hour time period or else the agency will write you up (stating it's a performance issue) and place these write-ups in your Employee Folder. I think the stress of my job (and possible Peri Menopause & other female health issues ) intensified my ADHD symptoms (I was still not diagnosed with ADHD at this time but I've had the diagnoses of depression and anxiety for years) to the point I was hardly functionable and I felt like one big disorganized & exhausted mess. Thus, I believe this ultimately drove me to getting diagnosed with this new ADHD diagnoses. Another social worker (who is ADD) who worked at the same agency as I do put in her two weeks notice and quit without even having another job lined up because she said she just couldn't take it anymore (she said this after telling me she tried to choke herself to death) and she even attempted suicide shortly after leaving the agency (Thank God she was not successful in killing herself!). I think I'm probably rambling a little here so I better bring my commentary to a close by stating that I hope you get a chance to read my blog and then I'll fill you in on the rest once I get a chance. I appreciate you listening to me and helping me out! I also wanted to ask you what you experienced at your old job? How did they screw you over? What have you endured?

You are to document everything, even document people that are around where when someone is bothering you. Make sure that the documentaion is kept out of the work place. I know this is hard to say but do not talk to anybody at work about these issues....When it comes time that EEOC, ADA, or whatever agency wants to queston the witnesses they will go with the company. It is sad for that. Now that I see people from my old job they say how I got screwed...Ok then why did you all not say something.

I will tell you I went trough EEOC (which takes a long time - but they do a great job) But remember the lawyer you will need will have to be at its best...My lawyer was an idiot and did nothing and he lost my case whch was a sample open and close case, and then he sued me. This took three years
but I wanted to prove a point....point is Corp America can do as they please. I did learn many things.

What kind of work do you do? What kind of problems are you having? You can send me an email if you rather..Oh and I forgot get a hand of the wokers mannual if you do not have one.....That is important.

Good luck and get back to me and I will give you all the info I can...

Hello, Mssphoto! Do you think it's a good idea to document nonverbal behaviors and gestures, your interpretation of their body language, hearsay (especially if more than one co-worker informs you of something), and other subjective things? While I know it's important to be objective, there's a lot of things that are so subjective by nature that I'm not sure where the proper boundary is when it comes to documenting. Any advice you have to offer on this topic would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

yeah good advice, managament is also supposed to document with a timeline any chain of events they see or might take action on, you should demand in writing that documentation.

One thing that popped in my head, was OH YEAH, how some of us ADHD people love paperwork!

No problem...I do not want anyone to go throw what I have been going through for almost a year.....Always like to have people be able to go through something and get a heads up!
