I Can't Get On Schedule with My Medication

Since I was diagnosed with ADD I am having a very difficult time taking my medication.  I find myself becoming energized after midnight no matter if I have taken my medication, half my medication, or none at all.  I find myself more often than not, staying up all night till the early am hours.  I usually become tired around 5am and sleep till roughly 11am.  When I awaken I will usually take only half my Medication to compensate for sleeping half the day.  Sometimes I just won't go to sleep or take my medication hoping I will tire late that evening.  After a couple of days I can manage to sleep by 2am and still sleep till 11am.  Yet there are times I will crash and sleep 12 to 15hrs.  What gives?!

Thank you Doug.  I went to bed at 5:30am this morning.  I hadn't thought of a sleep disorder and it does makes sense.  When I was younger I would work, work, work until I wore myself out.  My lifestyle has changed dramatically the past five years.  Physical ailments prevent me from being as active.  Normally a regular sleep pattern wouldn't concern me but now that I am trying to take my medication daily it does.

I see you posted at 1:30 am.
possibly you have more of a sleep problem than a medication problem, since you said its the same with out meds. there are ways to deal with this, diagnosing sleep advanced or delayed disorder. so you might find out what type you have and then deal with it, and then be on a regular sleep and med schedule. maybe the meds threw your internal clock off. you can check out the sleep cycle problems on the net.
