ADDer World ADD ADHD Online Network Community

ADD & ADHD Online Social Network Community

My brain is bouncing of its skull, my thoughts are thinking other things. My mind is wandering in a quest to find a way to get back on track. On its way it finds a treasure. The treasure was an idea. A glorious idea. But then the idea is forgotten, so the quest is forgotten for a new quest to figure out what that idea was. Indeed when the idea is found it wasn't as good as when it was found unintentionally when my mind was wandering on its quest to find a way to get back on track. 'Cause when you're loopy and you're brain's in a mind loop run-on sentences rule!

Loopy, William and Cookie, I just had to laugh when I read your entries! (in a positive way) Even though I am not an ADDer, my 19yr old daughter is, I can understand. I experience the same problems myself and have seen my daughter go through the same thing. Most of the time I don't even write down my thoughts and sometimes when I do I can't figure them out later.

I was off work this winter with severe depression and while reading the paper, had an idea for replacing the boring and outdated Dear Abby column with a mother /daughter question and answer column that I would do with my daughter of course. That is probably the best idea I've had in a long time. I haven't spoken to my daughter about it yet so I lies dormant....

Most of my thoughts seem to come while at work. So I write them on small sticky notes & stick them in my checkbook register. Depending on how long it takes me to write an entry in my register depends on how many notes build up. Then I transfer the notes to a larger piece of paper at home which then builds up on my dresser. Kind of defeats the purpose of look at it once & ditch it, since they have a way of turning into gremlins. I also have a small notebook that fits under the emergency brake in my car, but the problem with that is that I forget about that list, unless I happen to look down, see writing & hope it wasn't important!

Small notepad in the back pocket, works to offset the wallet. Well, it does untill the Ideas, doodles, musings, lists, plans and sketches start adding up and the cash starts to diminish, then it's time to consolidate. Or maybe switch pockets. At one point I rigged a notepad with a flip top and a pen holder to "soft side" velcro that I stuck to the backside, then made a "rough side" velcro belt that I then strapped to my thigh. This worked well as I was on the road alot at the time. I would just scrall or is it skrall, down my thought while not looking, then rewright and refine at the next opportunity. I believe pilots have a setup like that built into their flightsuits. However they have a little more room to manuver than I do. They don't need to worry about the soccer mom and her kids in the minivan in the next lane on the interstate in heavy traffic!

Say what? Just kidding. I know what you mean. I hate when I am driving and have a great idea, but no way to write it down and forget I have voice record on my phone, then get home and forgot what that GREAT idea was! Dang it!
