I wonder what happened to me. Most people I read about say that they love having ADD/ADHD because they have all this creative energy. What happen to mine?

Good for you. Actually, that does sound very creative to me, but that doesn't mean you’re going to see it that way. Creativity is always about what you say it is or what you say it is not. That's sometimes why some people say they are not creative. Yes, you may have seen someone else cut through the parking lot, but you were on the lookout of 'finding' quicker ways to get to work on time. You see it is just a matter of perception, really. With that said, congrats on not giving in to the urge to be late even if you can!

LOL, Well, Last Year I got put on a FINAL Warning 1 more late and I'd loose my job. So, it was very easy at that point to get motivated to be on time. I like my job and as it is only 10 minutes from my home I'd like to keep it as long as I need to work. I wouldn't say I did anything creative, I just leave home 15 minutes ahead of time now so I'm not late if there is any traffic or I run into a red light. If I  leave a couple of minutes late for whatever reason, I cut thru a parking lot to avoid the red light, this was not my idea either I saw someone else do this one day. At 4:45 in the morning there are few other cars out I wouldn't do this during the day, but I try not to leave any later that 15 till. I'm off my final now and have been fighting an urge to come in late one day just because I can now. I still can be late only so many times and I need not to on purpose incase I really have a reason one day, very hard though not to give in.

Trasonda, I wouldn't say you are being too hard on yourself. You're going through a lot and as you said, you are a good worker. It also sounds like you are doing something I also do and that's compare myself to others and what they do. That is a hard habit to break. Being creative is about finding your passion and what you enjoy, for you it is your work and I bet if you take a good look at your job you'll notice you have some creativity there. I bet you have even been creative at getting to work on time. How did you manage that? Best wishes to you and your husband!!

Physical issues, Yes. I have several. I'd do like to go to the gym, but haven't been in a while. Most of the time I just have enough energy to go to work. It's a vicious cycle. I go to work a lot of days at 5 am, usually do not get in bed early enough to be rested for this so when I get home I'm about to fall out so I take a nap. Wake up and fix dinner and maybe do a little house work. Then its time to go to bed again and at this point I'm not all that sleepy anymore so its hard to go to sleep, at the same time my husband has also had a nap so all  he wants to do is sit up and watch tv and well since I'm not all that sleepy I find myself listening to the tv, he gets mad when I tell him to turn it off so I can sleep so we fuss a minute then he finally turns it off and we go to sleep, then the next day the same thing starts over again. Thats only one of my lifes problems. I have High BP, High Colesterol, I have a problem with my feet which is another reason why I don't put the exercise issue to the front of my to do list, sinus/allergy issues and stomach problems at times. I've been trying to deal with my health issues but it always seems something else comes up and I have to put me on the back burner. like now my husband is having heart issues and after we go on a quite long trip back home for him to see his family he is going into the hospital for heart surgery, so I have an appointment already with my Dr. for the end of the year to pick up on my issues again.

i don't love having add, its a booger.  but the strategies help me deal with it and my life is better.  i do like my creative energy, but dont like how hard it is to actually harness it and get something accomplished.   Maybe if you take care of any physical issues and improve your physical energy, and then attend to some ADD issues - strategies to decrease feeling overloaded and shorten your to do list?  increase exercise to decrease stress? sort out clutter so life and environment are simpler?  etc? - your creative energy will have a chance to emerge?

good luck, doug

I was reading this morning about the Dr. who tells her AD/HD childeren that they have glitterie (? spelling) thoughts. I don't get on this site a lot and I know when I do I come off kind of hard on myself. It's a long hard habit to break. But, I really am not creative, I don't have any artistic skills at all. I don't draw, paint, write, can't think of any craft ideas or if I do can't figure out how to carry them out. If by some chance I can get that far then I can never get it to come out looking nice. I'd like to be able to do things always wanted to sew and crochet like my grandmother, mother and sister. I also always wanted to write a book, I have a cousin that I just met a couple of years ago and she's turned out to be the family book writer. I really like what I've read that you've written and I plan to buy your book "One Boy's Struggle" as some point. I don't remember enough to put in a book though. All I can really say was childhood was hard; at some points really hard and being an adult hasn't always been a picnic either. One thing about me I'm good at working. I'm good at my job and I've even finally learned to get there on time.

Hi Trasonda, not sure how to answer. Perhaps provide a few more details. Do you believe that you are not creative? Not everyone is as creative as someone else and then again, some people do not realize they are creative because they are so critical of themselves. It's hard to say, but maybe if you tell us a little bit more we'll have a better idea.
