There is a great deal of content to be written about on a daily basis here on G+ from so many people.
I see some great posts on here all day long and wonder where do these writers get their ideas? I mean some writers on here are in a constant flow of posts from ideas running around in their heads and most of the posts are great writing and reading.
What I wonder though is how many others would like to do the same but are a little intimidated by the posts already on here? How many writers or potential writers feel their work isn't good enough to post on a blog or here on G+.
There are a great deal of people who will post about writing skills and how you have to be perfect with your spelling and your grammar and if you're not then you shouldn't be writing. That's hogwash.
Ask any good English teacher from Grade School to College and they all same the same thing. Practice makes perfect. Keep writing and don't listen to the critics. Write and write to your hearts content.
Post what you want and know. Write about what you feel and get it out there. Don't hide behind your concerns of grammar and spelling. There are spell checkers out there and even grammar checkers but some of them still miss things. Don't worry.
Feel free to write and not worry about critics. Critics are always going to be out there and they will criticize you to no end but, and I say this with meaning, screw them. Write to your hearts content and say what you want.
Posting on G+ is so simple and rewarding. Seeing someone give you a +1 for something you wrote is exciting. Or that first comment about your posts. All of it is exciting and everyone should get to enjoy that so don't let the critics scare you away.
To be honest I did that and now I said screw them. I have something to say and I am going to say it in my own way. It may not be eloquent but this isn't a book. This is a blog or a post on a site where I want to get my point across. Being eloquent doesn't always help to get your point across. Sometimes you just need to get to the point and forget eloquence.
Don't be afraid to make a mistake or word your post like your saying it. Maybe your style, like mine is to write how you speak. I've been told that numerous times that when they read my posts it isn't great but they understand because it's like hearing me speak.
Another thing that comes up when writing or posting. If you suffer from a condition like ADHD, again like I do, it makes it hard to write some days. For me it's everyday. I have a very severe case of ADHD which I control without meds which is worth writing about daily as it is.
I try to write for a couple of blogs. Two of them my own and two are for other organizations I consult with. It isn't easy coming up with all of this content but I try and I get it done, just not as fast as some would like. The thing is I try and I do it on my own time table.
Sometimes the writing isn't good but the message is there and the post still get's posted by the blogs because it's about the message nothing more. Maybe it gets edited and maybe not but it still gets out there for people to read.
I am not the best writer. I don't do eloquence in my writing. I basically write to deliver a message I feel needs to be heard. Sometimes the writing is for me but I want others to enjoy it. I write about health, diabetes, kids that are diabetic, and laughter in the health world.
Do I worry about the critics? I did till the other day when a friend, an English Teacher said screw them I like your work and I like your message don't stop. That's a good sign I figure coming from an English Teacher. Friend or not.
So listen to me all of you writers out there who aren't perfect. Join me and start writing on G+ and maybe if there are enough of us out there we can start a community for the imperfect writers here on G+ and give ourselves kudos for our work.
